Alampur, known for its rich historical and spiritual significance, is set to undergo a major transformation with the approval of an integrated heritage, tourism and urban rejuvenation project worth Rs 57.50 crore under the Central Government's Urban Challenge Fund. The project has received clearance from the Centre's national-level committee, marking a significant milestone for Jogulamba Gadwal district. District Collector Rizwan Basha Shaik announced the development on Thursday, noting that Alampur is among five major urban development projects from Telangana approved under the scheme.

The funding structure involves contributions from the Centre, the Telangana government and external financing sources. The Central Government will provide Rs 14.38 crore, accounting for 25 per cent of the total project cost. The state government will contribute an equal amount, while the remaining Rs 28.75 crore will be mobilised through market financing and the World Bank. The funding arrangement is expected to support the implementation of various infrastructure and tourism-related initiatives.

A major focus of the project will be the conservation of Alampur's heritage and the development of facilities around the Jogulamba Temple, which attracts devotees from different parts of the country. Authorities plan to improve the town's infrastructure while preserving its historical character and religious importance.

The proposed works include upgrading major roads and internal streets, establishing a sponge park, and renovating the existing Pushkar Ghat. Modern parking facilities and dedicated pedestrian corridors will also be developed to make movement easier for pilgrims and tourists. The project further envisages landscaping, beautification of public spaces and installation of modern streetlights to improve the town's overall appearance and urban infrastructure.

Collector Rizwan Basha Shaik said the proposal was prepared and taken forward through coordinated efforts involving officials from different departments. He credited the support of senior officers from the Municipal Administration Department and district-level authorities for securing approval from the national committee.

Appreciating the officers and staff involved in the process, the Collector said the project would bring together Alampur's historical legacy and modern urban facilities. Once implemented, the initiative is expected to improve the experience of visitors while strengthening the town's tourism potential.
