Akshaye Khanna exits Drishyam 3 , producer sends legal notice over alleged walkout
Drama off-screen mirrors the suspense on-screen as ‘Drishyam 3’ producer Kumar Mangat Pathak confirmed sending a legal notice to actor Akshaye Khanna for allegedly walking out of the film after accepting the signing amount and committing to shooting dates.
Pathak revealed that the actor exited the project over a demand to wear a wig, which he claimed disrupted the film’s continuity and schedule. “He signed our film, signed the script, took the signing amount, and then walked out. We have sent a legal notice, and if there’s no response by the end of the day, our legal team will take action in court,” Pathak said.
The producer added that Akshaye’s insistence on growing his hair conflicted with the story’s timeline. “The film continues from where the last one ended, and it starts at night. How can he grow his hair in four hours? Initially, he agreed, but then created confusion again and left. People around him suggested that wearing a wig would enhance his look,” Pathak alleged.
The legal action aims to recover financial losses, including set costs at Yash Raj Studios and other expenses incurred due to the sudden exit. “We will demand compensation in court and protect our reputation,” Pathak added.
Akshaye Khanna has yet to respond publicly to the controversy. Following his departure, the production has brought in Jaideep Ahlawat, introducing a new character to take over the role originally intended for Akshaye. “Jaideep will do what Akshaye was supposed to, but in a new form. We are presenting him in a very good way,” the producer shared.
‘Drishyam 3,’ starring Ajay Devgn and directed by Abhishek Pathak, is now slated for a worldwide theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
