Akhil Akkineni's Lenin to Stream on ZEE5 From August 7

Akhil Akkineni's career biggest blockbuster Lenin is finally heading to OTT. After a successful theatrical run that revived the actor's box office fortunes, the rural action entertainer will begin streaming exclusively on ZEE5 from August 7, allowing audiences who missed it in cinemas to watch it at home.

Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, Lenin marked a major comeback for Akhil after the setback of Agent. Released on July 10, the film opened to positive word of mouth, with audiences appreciating its emotional storytelling, Rayalaseema backdrop, high-octane action, and family drama. The film went on to become the highest grossing movie of Akhil's career, firmly bringing him back into the commercial league.

The film also created headlines with its impressive opening. The makers announced a ₹16.7 crore worldwide gross on Day 1, making it Akhil's biggest opening ever, while the movie continued its winning run over the weekend and crossed ₹61.1 crore worldwide gross in just three days, with producer Naga Vamsi later revealing that distributors had recovered quickly and entered the profit zone.

Set against the rugged backdrop of Rayalaseema, Lenin features Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead. The supporting cast includes Shivaji, Sunil, Eeswari Rao, Ramki, Pramod Panju, and Brahmaji, all of whom received praise for their performances. The film struck a balance between intense action, emotional family moments, and commercial entertainment, helping it connect with audiences across centres.

Produced by Naga Vamsi and Nagarjuna under Sithara Entertainments, Annapurna Studios, and Manam Enterprises, the film's technical team also played a key role in its success. S. Thaman's energetic soundtrack and powerful background score elevated several mass moments, while the visuals by Leon Britto, editing by Navin Nooli, and action choreography by Dhilip Subbarayan, Ram Lakshman, Vijay, and Real Satheesh added to the film's appeal.

Interestingly, Lenin had already generated strong business before its release. Reports suggested that its digital, satellite, dubbing, and audio rights fetched significant revenue, while ZEE Network acquired both the OTT and satellite rights after intense competition among streaming platforms.
