Akhil Akkineni’s ‘Lenin’ Set For June 26 Release Nagarjuna Hails First Cut Calls It ‘New Avatar’
Telugu star Nagarjuna Akkineni has officially confirmed that his younger son Akhil Akkineni’s upcoming film “Lenin” will release in theatres on June 26, 2026 , while praising the film after watching its first cut.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Nagarjuna expressed confidence in the project and said audiences will witness a transformed Akhil. “Watched the first cut of our film LENIN last night. I say this with confidence and pride… you are about to witness a new AKHIL on June 26 2026. Mark the date!!! See you in the theatres,” he wrote.
Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu , Lenin features Akhil Akkineni alongside Bhagyashri Borse . The film marks Akhil’s return to the big screen after his 2023 release Agent. Bhagyashri, who was recently seen in Andhra King Taluka and Kaantha, plays the female lead.
The announcement comes amid key developments in the Akkineni family. Akhil Akkineni tied the knot with his fiancée Zainab Ravdjee in a traditional Telugu wedding held at Annapurna Studios, Hyderabad , on June 6 last year.
Meanwhile, Nagarjuna is also preparing for his landmark project tentatively titled “King 100” , marking his 100th film. The film has already generated buzz after actress Tabu joined the cast. She confirmed the news on social media, writing: “And we begin with the #King100 #Nagarjuna @annapurnastudios.”
The film will be directed by Ra Karthik , who recently helmed Made In Korea. Nagarjuna and Tabu, who last shared screen space in Aavida Maa Aavide (1998), are reuniting after decades, following earlier collaborations including Ninne Pelladata (1996).
In an earlier interview, Nagarjuna said the post-pandemic era has been a “fantastic time for cinema” , noting that audiences are increasingly open to global content, including Korean, Mexican, and South American films. He also highlighted how Telugu cinema is now reaching worldwide audiences.
With Lenin set for release and King 100 in production, the Akkineni family continues to remain in the spotlight with major projects ahead.
