Akhanda 3 Confirmed: Boyapati Srinu to Reunite With Balakrishna
Director Boyapati Srinu has confirmed that Akhanda 3 is on the cards with Nandamuri Balakrishna, while indicating that the third instalment will take some time to materialise. The filmmaker made the announcement during his visit to Tirumala on Monday, where he sought the blessings of Lord Venkateswara.
Boyapati visited the temple with his family and had VIP break darshan. After the darshan, temple priests offered Vedic blessings, while officials honoured him with temple prasadam and sacred cloth. Speaking to the media, the director said he plans to announce his next project by the end of October and revealed that he traditionally seeks divine blessings before beginning a new film.
On the much-awaited Akhanda franchise, Boyapati said Akhanda 3 will definitely happen, but he and Balakrishna want to maintain an appropriate gap between the films. The director indicated that both are currently occupied with other commitments and that details of the third part will be announced at the right time along with Balakrishna.
The announcement comes after Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, which marked the fourth collaboration between Boyapati and Balakrishna following Simha, Legend and Akhanda. The franchise has become closely associated with Balakrishna’s larger-than-life action image and devotional themes. The first Akhanda combined social drama with spiritual elements, while Akhanda 2 expanded the scale with a bio-war storyline and the return of Balakrishna in his powerful Aghora avatar.
Boyapati also addressed another much-discussed possibility involving two Telugu cinema veterans. He said a film featuring Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna together is something that “definitely should be done” and described directing the two stars as a major opportunity. However, there is no official announcement regarding the proposed multistarrer yet, as bringing both actors together would require careful planning around their schedules and commitments.
With Akhanda 3 now reaffirmed by its director, expectations are building among Balakrishna and Boyapati’s fans for another high-scale action drama from the successful combination.
