‘Akhanda 2’ Rights Pegged at Record Levels

The upcoming film Akhanda 2 , starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Boyapati Srinu, is being prepared for a grand pan-India release on December 5. The makers have also confirmed that the movie will arrive in a 3D format, with a special poster already released for the same.

Widespread reports from industry sources have suggested that a major deal has been signed for the film’s theatrical and non-theatrical rights, with the combined value estimated at around ₹250 crore. If confirmed officially, this would mark the highest pre-release business of Balakrishna’s career. However, no formal statement on pricing or partner platforms for OTT, satellite, or music rights has been issued by the production team.

Promotional activities for the film have been intensified as the release date nears. A grand pre-release event in Hyderabad is being planned, although the organisers have not yet released official information regarding the venue or schedule. The trailer and songs, which were unveiled earlier, have received strong responses from fans and generated considerable anticipation.

Akhanda 2 marks the fourth collaboration between Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu. Their previous films Simha (2010), Legend (2014), and Akhanda (2021) were regarded as major commercial successes and helped establish the combination as one of the strongest mass-action pairs in Telugu cinema.

Director Boyapati Srinu has earlier stated that the sequel has been designed around themes of Sanatana Dharma, adding that the film represents “the soul and supreme soul of India” and has been crafted to offer audiences a powerful spiritual and cinematic experience. He has expressed hope that viewers across the country will connect with the narrative.

Balakrishna, who was last seen in Daku Maharaj earlier this year, is set to return to a high-voltage mass action role in this film. With its pan-India release and 3D offering, Akhanda 2 is being positioned as one of the major Telugu theatrical events of the year.
