Ajay Devgn’s New Horror Film 'Suryasparsh' Gets A 2027 Release Window

Ajay Devgn is set to explore a dark supernatural world with 'Suryasparsh', his upcoming horror thriller with director Rohit Jugraj. The film, which was earlier reported to be using 'Griha Pravesh' as its working title, has now officially locked its name, according to an exclusive report by Bollywood Hungama.

The film is said to feature Ajay Devgn in a supernatural and morally ambiguous character. The high-concept story draws inspiration from the Garuda Purana, the ancient Sanskrit text attributed to Veda Vyasa that presents a dialogue between Lord Vishnu and Garuda. The makers are expected to build the narrative around mystery, fear and suspense rather than relying purely on conventional horror spectacle.

'Suryasparsh' has already gone on floors. The shoot began on September 2, 2026, and the current schedule is expected to continue through November. The film is targeting a theatrical release in the second half of 2027.

The project brings together Panorama Studios and Ajay Devgn Films, with Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak producing the film. The collaboration continues the association between Panorama Studios and Devgn Films, which has previously produced films such as 'Drishyam', 'Raid' and 'Shaitaan'.

Abhishek Pathak has indicated that the film's suspense will not depend on spectacle alone. According to his statement, the story is designed around the questions it raises and the unease it gradually creates, with Ajay's involvement as both actor and producer adding another creative dimension to the project.

The director, Rohit Jugraj, also has an interesting connection with Ajay Devgn's horror-film history. Before establishing himself as a director, Jugraj assisted Ram Gopal Varma on Ajay Devgn's 2003 horror film 'Bhoot'. He has since directed films including the 'Sardaarji' franchise and worked on streaming projects such as 'Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein' and 'Chamak'.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is preparing for the theatrical release of 'Drishyam: The Conclusion' on October 2, 2026. The Abhishek Pathak directorial brings back Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar and is being positioned as the final chapter of the Hindi franchise.

With 'Suryasparsh', Ajay Devgn is returning to the supernatural-horror space in a film that combines mythology, mystery and moral ambiguity. The makers have currently kept the plot details under wraps, making the character and the Garuda Purana-inspired premise among the biggest talking points surrounding the project.
