The gold marks his fifth individual medal at the Asian Championships and reinforces his stature as one of India’s premier rifle shooters. His ability to elevate his performance in the final despite finishing third in qualification demonstrated exceptional composure and mental resilience under pressure.
With this victory, India’s medal tally in the senior rifle and pistol events climbed to 26 medals , including 10 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze . (Overall numbers are higher when junior events are included.) Competing on home soil, Indian shooters have displayed commanding form throughout the championship, which began on February 2 and concludes on Friday.
Tomar’s world record performance now stands as one of the defining highlights of the tournament. Beyond the medal itself, the achievement signals India’s growing consistency on the global shooting stage, particularly in technically demanding three-position events that test endurance, precision and nerve. As the championship draws to a close, India’s dominance in New Delhi has firmly established the team as a formidable force in world shooting.
