AIIMS Opens Group-A Recruitment - Applications Close February 20

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has issued a detailed notification for the Recruitment Examination for Group-A (Non-Faculty) posts under REGA-2.0 , opening opportunities for senior-level professionals in medical, research, media, and veterinary fields. The online application process began on January 22, 2026 , and will remain open until 5:00 PM on February 20, 2026 . The recruitment covers positions at AIIMS New Delhi and the Pasteur Institute of India, Coonoor (Tamil Nadu) , with AIIMS functioning as the examination-conducting body while appointments will be finalized by the respective institutes.

A total of 19 vacancies have been announced across four key posts. These include General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) with 12 posts at AIIMS New Delhi, Educational Media Generalist with one post at AIIMS, Research Officer with four posts at the Pasteur Institute, and Veterinary Assistant Surgeon with two posts at Coonoor. The positions fall under Central Government pay levels (Level 10 and Level 11) and come with standard government allowances. Most posts have upper age limits ranging between 30 and 35 years , with relaxations available for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen , and certain government employees as per existing rules.

The educational qualifications reflect the technical and professional nature of the roles. The GDMO post requires an MBBS degree with completion of internship, while the Research Officer role accepts diverse backgrounds such as medicine, pharmacy, microbiology, biotechnology, life sciences, and biomedical engineering, along with three years’ experience in the biopharmaceutical industry . The Veterinary Assistant Surgeon position mandates a recognized veterinary degree and registration with the appropriate council. Meanwhile, the Educational Media Generalist role emphasizes postgraduate qualifications in social sciences, communication, or health education, along with substantial experience in media production. Government and PSU employees must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) , and candidates applying under OBC or EWS categories must ensure certificates are valid for the 2025–26 financial year .

Regarding fees, the application charge is ₹3,000 for General/OBC candidates and ₹2,400 for SC/ST/EWS candidates, while Persons with Disabilities are exempted. Applications must be submitted exclusively through the AIIMS examination portal, with no physical documents required at the initial stage. A correction window will be available from February 25 to 28, 2026 , and the status of applications will be displayed on February 25. Examination centres are planned in Delhi/NCR, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal , while the admit card and exam date will be announced later.

The selection process will be conducted in three stages. Stage I is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) featuring 200 objective questions with negative marking, largely focused on post-specific knowledge along with general aptitude. Stage II involves screening of documents for shortlisted candidates, and Stage III is a Descriptive Written Test (DWT) conducted offline to assess applied knowledge, professional judgment, and decision-making ability. Final merit will be prepared based on combined scores from Stage I and Stage III. AIIMS has emphasized that candidature at every stage remains provisional and can be cancelled if eligibility or documents are found invalid.

These Group-A non-faculty roles are regarded as prestigious central government positions, offering long-term career stability, involvement in public health systems, and exposure to research and policy environments. The inclusion of roles such as Educational Media Generalist also underlines AIIMS’ growing focus on health communication and training innovation, while research and veterinary positions support biomedical and public health infrastructure development.
