AIFF Offers Discounted Tickets To Kolkata Club Fans For India’s Brazil, Uruguay Friendlies

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will offer discounted tickets to members and supporters of Kolkata’s three major football clubs for India’s upcoming FIFA Tier-1 international friendlies against Panama, Brazil and Uruguay.

AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey said on Thursday that more than 14,000 seats in the middle tier behind both goalposts, covering the B2 and D2 sections, will be made available at discounted rates to IFA-registered clubs and supporters of Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting.

The Indian Football Association (IFA) will act as the nodal agency for ticket allocation. Fans will be able to collect tickets directly from designated areas at their respective clubs after the clubs place their requirements through the IFA.

“If any club needs tickets, they can inform through the IFA regarding how many tickets are required,” Chaubey said at a press conference.

India will play Panama in Bengaluru on September 25, before taking on Brazil on October 3 and Uruguay on October 6 in Kolkata. All three opponents are currently ranked among the top 50 in the FIFA rankings, making the fixtures a major test for the Indian team.

The AIFF also plans to take the matches beyond the stadium by setting up Fan Parks across districts, where young footballers and supporters can watch the games together on large screens.

The India-Brazil match has attracted particular attention. A five-member delegation from the Brazilian Football Confederation recently visited Kolkata to inspect the venue and arrangements and gave a positive report, according to Chaubey.

There had been concerns about the condition of the pitch after the monsoon and its extensive use during the Durand Cup. Chaubey said the playing surface has improved considerably and is expected to be in better condition by the time Brazil arrive. The two practice grounds near the stadium are also being prepared.

Hosting FIFA Tier-1 fixtures requires extensive planning, including venue coordination, protocol compliance and arrangements for visiting teams.

For India, the three matches offer a rare chance to face high-profile international opponents. Games against Brazil and Uruguay, two of football’s most decorated nations, are expected to provide the national team with valuable exposure while also generating greater interest in football among supporters and young players across the country.
