AI-Led Skilling Drive: Govt to Launch AI Hub to Boost Engineer Employability
Telangana is preparing a major push to reshape how young engineers move from classrooms into careers, with the state government planning a dedicated AI Hub to deliver advanced, industry-aligned training. Announcing the initiative, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said the move aims to fix the long-standing disconnect between academic learning and industry expectations . Speaking at the 10th anniversary of PSR Tech Hub in Begumpet, he noted that nearly 2 lakh engineering graduates pass out every year in Telangana, yet many lack the practical skills required by employers.
The proposed AI Hub, expected within two months, will focus on equipping graduates with industry-relevant skills , particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies. The government, he said, will extend full support to ensure this initiative improves employability and helps students transition smoothly into jobs. He also urged companies to treat training fresh graduates as a shared responsibility, encouraging them to invest in structured skilling programs instead of relying solely on ready-made talent.
Highlighting the urgency, the minister pointed out that rapid advances in AI are reshaping job roles and raising the bar for technical expertise. Without timely intervention, many graduates risk being left behind. The AI Hub is intended to act as a bridge between theory and practice, enabling engineers to adapt to a technology-driven economy . He stressed that stronger collaboration between government bodies, educational institutions, and private companies is essential to build a future-ready workforce .
The minister also praised the growth of PSR Tech Hub, which has evolved into a ₹120 crore turnover company employing around 250 employees , even navigating challenges like the pandemic. He lauded its founder, P. Sriranga Rao , for building a resilient enterprise that contributes to both innovation and employment. Concluding, he said Telangana’s focus is shifting from degree-centric education to skill-centric development, aiming to position the state as a leading hub for innovation and technology .
