After 'Cocktail 2', Kriti Sanon To Headline Big-Budget Horror Film With Maddock

Kriti Sanon is all set to enter a darker cinematic world with her next project, an untitled large-scale horror film backed by Maddock Films. Following her recent appearance in 'Cocktail 2', the actress is reportedly preparing to headline an out-and-out horror entertainer that will mark another collaboration with the production house.

According to an exclusive report by Variety India, the film is currently in the pre-production stage, with preparations underway to mount it on a grand scale. The project will reportedly mark Kriti’s ninth collaboration with Maddock Films, the banner behind several of her memorable performances across different genres.

Unlike the production house’s popular horror-comedy franchise, the upcoming film is expected to focus entirely on horror, marking a different creative direction. The storyline, supporting cast and release timeline remain under wraps, while the makers are yet to make an official announcement.

Filmfare has separately reported that filmmaker Amit Sharma is expected to direct the project. However, further details about the film’s creative team and production schedule have not been officially confirmed.

Interestingly, Kriti has previously admitted that she is not particularly fond of watching horror films. However, the actress has expressed interest in exploring the genre because of the challenges it presents as a performer. The upcoming project could give her an opportunity to experiment with a different screen persona and explore unfamiliar emotional territory.

The film is also expected to feature a strong female protagonist at the centre of its narrative. If the reports materialise, it will mark Kriti’s second solo lead with Maddock Films after 'Mimi', her 2021 drama that earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress.

Kriti’s association with the production house began with 'Raabta' and 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' in 2017. She subsequently worked with the banner on films including 'Luka Chuppi', 'Mimi', 'Bhediya' and 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya'. Her recent release, 'Cocktail 2', further extended the partnership.

With Maddock expanding its horror offerings beyond comedy-driven supernatural stories, Kriti’s reported project could signal an interesting new chapter for both the actress and the studio. For now, audiences will have to wait for an official confirmation and more details about the film.
