Adulterated sweets trigger health scare in Haryana's Nuh, seven kids fall ill, one critical

In a disturbing incident from Haryana’s Nuh district , a simple family purchase turned into a medical emergency, raising fresh concerns over food safety and adulteration .

On Saturday morning, seven children from a single family , including a toddler, were rushed to hospital after consuming Chamcham sweets allegedly bought from a local shop in the Nagina area the previous night. What began as a routine treat quickly spiralled into panic as the children started showing alarming symptoms.

According to police officials, the children experienced vomiting, severe anxiety, and foaming at the mouth , pointing towards possible food contamination . They were first taken to the District Civil Hospital, where doctors administered initial treatment. However, given the seriousness of their condition, five of them were referred to Nalhar Medical College Hospital for advanced care.

The affected children have been identified as Sofaid (16), Ajuba (15), Sofia (10), Sanofia (8), Samar (4), Samreen (2), and Ruhaan (5) . Among them, four-year-old Samar remains in critical condition , with doctors closely monitoring his health.

Medical teams have prepared Medico-Legal Reports (MLRs) for all the children, and treatment is currently ongoing. Meanwhile, police officials confirmed that no formal complaint has been filed yet by the family, but assured that appropriate action will be taken once a complaint is received.

The incident has once again brought attention to the growing menace of adulterated food products , especially in smaller towns where regulation and monitoring often fall short. For many families, sweets symbolize celebration, but in this case, they became a source of fear and distress.

As authorities await further developments, the focus remains on the children’s recovery, and on ensuring that such incidents do not repeat.
