The Adani Group will invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore over the next five years in Gujarat’s Kutch region, focusing on renewable energy and port infrastructure, Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd, said on Sunday.

Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) for the Kutch and Saurashtra regions in Rajkot, Adani said the group plans to complete the Khavda renewable energy project, commissioning the full 37 GW capacity by 2030 , and double the port capacity at Mundra over the next decade .

“These investments are aligned with India’s national priorities of employment generation, industrial competitiveness, sustainability and long-term resilience,” he said in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and several industry leaders.

Adani highlighted Gujarat’s contribution to India’s economy, noting that the state accounts for over 8 per cent of GDP, 17 per cent of industrial output, handles around 40 per cent of the nation’s cargo through its ports, and leads in renewable energy capacity . He added that Kutch, once considered remote, has emerged as a strategic hub for industry, logistics and energy , reinforcing Gujarat’s role in India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 .

The Adani Group operates Mundra Port in Kutch, which will see expanded capacity under the new investment plan.

Addressing the summit, Balkrishan Goenka , chairman of Welspun World, said the company’s Gujarat facility has become the world’s largest home textile producer , employing around one lakh people directly and indirectly. Welspun commands over 25 per cent market share in the US and UK for home textiles, and its products are used in events like Wimbledon. He also said the company is investing Rs 5,000 crore in its pipeline business , aiming to become the world’s largest pipe manufacturer by the end of this year.
