Actor Mike Smith charged with sexual assault over 2017 incident

Canadian actor Mike Smith, best known for portraying Bubbles in the hit comedy series Trailer Park Boys , has been charged with sexual assault in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred in December 2017 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

According to Halifax Regional Police, the charge was formally filed earlier this October following an investigation into a complaint received earlier this year. Court documents reveal that Smith has been ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and is prohibited from visiting their residence, workplace, or school.

In a brief statement, production company Trailer Park Boys Inc. said, “We are aware of the allegations concerning Mike Smith and take such matters seriously. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not be commenting further at this time.” Smith has reportedly stepped down from his managerial role within the company as the case proceeds.

Reports suggest that the alleged incident dates back to December 30, 2017, though the complaint surfaced much later. After reviewing the evidence, authorities moved forward with formal charges in early October 2025. The case is now set to be heard in a Nova Scotia provincial court, with the identity of the complainant protected under a publication ban.
