People across the country joined in celebrating the first-ever World Diamond Day , a global initiative launched by the Natural Diamond Council (NDC) to recognise and honour the personal stories, heritage, and emotions behind natural diamonds. Observed on April 8, this day highlights the journey of diamonds from their natural origin to finished masterpieces, reflecting both tradition and modern aspiration .

World Diamond Day encourages individuals to share their experiences and memories associated with diamonds, whether as heirlooms passed down through generations or as symbols of personal milestones and achievements. Through social media, participants used hashtags #WorldDiamondDay and #NaturalDiamonds , creating a vibrant global narrative that celebrates the meaning, craftsmanship, and legacy of natural diamonds.

The celebration in India saw active involvement from key industry bodies such as the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC India) , the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) , the All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) , and the Bharat Diamond Bourse . Leading diamantaires and manufacturers, including Venus Jewel, SRK Exports, HK Exports, KP Sanghvi, Dharmanandan Diamonds, Finestar Jewellery and Diamonds, Shivam Jewels, and A.S. Prominent thought leaders such as Richa Goyal Sikri, Archana Thani, Nitya Arora , and Arundhati De Sheth played a key role in sharing authentic stories and personal perspectives from across the diamond industry, further enriching the celebration.

Speaking on the occasion, Richa Singh, Managing Director of NDC , said, “ World Diamond Day is a platform for people to share what their diamonds truly mean to them. Natural diamonds are the perfect custodians of our memories. This initiative allows us to pause and celebrate moments of joy, love, and achievement. ” She added that the day serves as a reminder of the passion and dedication of those in the diamond industry who bring these stories to life.

Beyond their brilliance, natural diamonds represent memories, legacy, and emotional connection . World Diamond Day emphasises that a diamond is not just a product but a timeless heirloom that carries stories across generations. Participants can celebrate the day by sharing personal moments in their own voice, with optional guidelines and assets available through the NDC’s dedicated toolkit.

The launch of World Diamond Day marks a step towards recognising the emotional, cultural, and artistic value of natural diamonds worldwide, uniting people in a shared celebration of heritage, joy, and craftsmanship.
