ACB Raids Hyderabad Water Board GM, Detects Assets Worth Rs 5.88 Crore

In a major crackdown on alleged corruption within the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) , the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday booked a senior official for allegedly amassing wealth far beyond his known sources of income. Searches conducted across multiple locations linked to the officer led to the detection of assets worth nearly Rs 5.88 crore , officials said.

The accused officer, currently serving as Division General Manager in the Water Board’s Project Division-VIII , is suspected of accumulating substantial properties and valuables through corrupt means during his years in public service. Acting on credible information, ACB officials registered a case under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and launched coordinated raids at the officer’s residence and several other premises connected to his relatives, associates and suspected benamis.

The searches were carried out simultaneously at nine locations on Tuesday. During the operation, investigators reportedly uncovered a large portfolio of movable and immovable assets. Among the properties identified were 18 acres of agricultural land , six open plots , three flats , and an independent house.

Officials also seized Rs 1.10 crore in cash , besides recovering nearly 2.1 kilograms of gold jewellery and 9.2 kilograms of silver articles . A car and a motorcycle were also found during the searches.

According to the ACB, the total value of the assets identified so far stands at Rs 5,88,55,490 based on official estimates. However, investigators believe the actual market value of the properties could be significantly higher given prevailing real estate prices.

The agency said scrutiny of additional financial transactions and property links connected to the officer is still underway. Verification of more suspected assets is currently in progress as part of the ongoing investigation.
