ABVP Launches Nationwide Vande Mataram Campaign After Legal Protection to National Song

ABVP has announced a nationwide "Vande Mataram @150 Years: Campus to Campus Vande Mataram Campaign" following Parliament's passage of the National Honour Insult Prevention (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which grants legal protection to the honour of the national song Vande Mataram.

The announcement was made at the conclusion of the organisation's two-day Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Aluva, Kerala, attended by national office-bearers, zonal organising secretaries and senior functionaries from across the country.

Welcoming the legislation, ABVP National General Secretary Virendra Singh Solanki said the law represents a historic recognition of a symbol that inspired India's freedom struggle and continues to reflect the nation's self-respect and cultural identity. He said the campaign aims to take the message of patriotism, national integration and constitutional responsibility to educational institutions and villages across the country while strengthening public participation and encouraging students to contribute to nation-building.

As part of the initiative, the organisation will conduct the "Ek Gaanv, Ek Tiranga" campaign, organise tricolour rallies, and hold mass singing of Vande Mataram during Independence Day celebrations to promote national unity and civic responsibility.

The CWC also reviewed the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, organisational expansion, the 2026 membership drive, students' union elections, initiatives for women students, tribal student outreach and other organisational priorities.

In addition, the committee finalised plans for several upcoming programmes, including the 72nd ABVP National Conference, SEIL@60, the Young Women's Conference, the "Screen Time to Activity Time" campaign, an All India Hostel Survey, international student outreach initiatives and commemorative events marking the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, and 50 years of the movement against the Emergency.

The campaign is expected to be rolled out across educational institutions nationwide in the coming months, reflecting ABVP's continued emphasis on student engagement, civic participation and awareness of India's national heritage.
