ABVP kicks off two-day central working committee meet in Goa

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), India’s largest student organisation , is set to convene a two-day central working committee meeting in Goa on January 17 and 18 to finalise nationwide campaigns on education, environment, and other contemporary issues. The meeting will take place at Shri Ramnath Damodar Sansthan in Quepem, South Goa , and is expected to bring together over 100 office bearers and activists from across the country.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, ABVP national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki said the meeting will review the organisation’s educational, national, and social activities, assess recent campaigns, and deliberate on forthcoming action plans to provide clearer direction to organisational work. Special focus will be given to the RSS centenary year , with deliberations centred on the call for Panch Parivartan .

Founded in 1949 , ABVP has grown into the largest student organisation in India, with a strong presence in universities and colleges across the country. Known for mobilising youth on issues ranging from education reforms to national awareness campaigns, ABVP has played a pivotal role in shaping student discourse and has consistently been at the forefront of socio-cultural and political activism on campuses. Its organisational strength is reflected in a network of state and city units, thousands of active volunteers, and a legacy of mentoring student leaders who later rise to influential positions in public life.

The committee will also outline programmes to be conducted across campuses nationwide on issues of national importance, including the birth anniversaries and centenary celebrations of prominent national figures, 50 years of the Emergency, and 75 years of the Constitution and the Republic. Solanki added that final decisions will be taken on the nationwide rollout of campaigns such as ‘Screen Time to Activity Time’, launched on National Youth Day , and the proposed ‘ Hostel Survey Campaign ’ scheduled for February.

The meeting will further review programmes organised in connection with the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the 500th year of the coronation of Maharani Abbakka, the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, 150 years of Vande Mataram , and the Sangh’s centenary year.
