Mumbai witnessed a proud moment for Indian squash as Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh delivered commanding performances to clinch the men’s and women’s singles titles at the JSW Indian Open 2026 held at the Cricket Club of India on Sunday.

In an all-Indian men’s final, second seed Abhay Singh proved too strong for Veer Chotrani , sealing a convincing straight-games victory . The contest began on an intense note, with both players engaging in long rallies and testing each other’s endurance. Abhay edged the tightly fought opening game, setting the tone for what followed.

The second game mirrored the first in intensity, but Abhay’s composure under pressure helped him extend his lead. By the third game, he had completely taken control, mixing deceptive angles with powerful smashes , leaving Chotrani struggling to keep pace. The 3-0 win underlined Abhay’s authority and sharp form throughout the tournament.

If Abhay’s victory showcased control, Anahat Singh’s triumph reflected flair and maturity beyond her years. The top seed overcame Egypt’s Hana Moataz in a high-quality women’s final, displaying remarkable speed and precision.

Anahat started strong, dominating the first two games with aggressive court coverage and sharp shot placement. Though Hana fought back brilliantly to take the third game and briefly shift momentum, the young Indian showed resilience under pressure .

In the fourth game, after falling behind early, Anahat regrouped with impressive composure. She regained control through quick footwork and decisive rallies, eventually closing out the match in style to defend her title successfully .

Speaking after her victory, Anahat acknowledged her brief lapse in focus but highlighted how regaining composure made the difference. She also praised her opponent’s fighting spirit, especially given the challenges Hana faced leading up to the final.

The twin victories not only highlighted India’s growing strength in squash but also underlined the emergence of a new generation of confident champions ready to deliver on the big stage.
