AAP writes to RS to remove Raghav Chadha as deputy leader, Ashok Mittal likely successor

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has formally requested the Rajya Sabha secretariat to remove Raghav Chadha from his position as the party’s deputy leader in the Upper House , according to sources.

Punjab MP Ashok Mittal is likely to be appointed as Chadha’s successor. The party’s letter also requests that Chadha, who represents Punjab in the Rajya Sabha, not be allocated speaking time from AAP’s quota in the House.

Currently, AAP holds 10 seats in the Rajya Sabha, including seven from Punjab and three from Delhi , making the deputy leader’s role crucial in coordinating the party’s parliamentary strategy.

Reports say the move could be linked to Chadha’s relative silence on key party developments and his absence from significant AAP activities, which has fueled speculation about internal differences within the party. Some analysts suggest that this may also be part of a strategic reshuffle ahead of upcoming parliamentary sessions .

The party, however, has not officially commented on the reasons behind Chadha’s removal, leaving the exact motivation unclear.

This change marks an important shift in AAP’s Rajya Sabha team, signaling a focus on consolidating leadership roles and ensuring smooth coordination within the party’s parliamentary presence.
