Telangana BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao on Sunday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) , stating that it has completely lost its credibility and is heading towards political decline. He made these remarks in the context of seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, merging with the BJP .

Speaking to the media, Ramchander Rao said that the “mask of honesty” associated with AAP had been removed following the alleged roles of Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the liquor scam . He claimed that MPs and MLAs within the party, who believe their leaders are involved in corruption, are now rebelling against the leadership . “What is undemocratic about this?” he asked, adding that they are joining the BJP in the interest of the nation and public welfare .

He further pointed out that, as per law , if two-thirds of elected members join or merge with another party, the anti-defection law does not apply to them. Ramchander Rao also mocked the protests being held by AAP workers at the residences of Raghav Chadha and Harbhajan Singh , calling them a sign of the party’s intolerance and frustration .

Meanwhile, former AAP MP Raghav Chadha , who exited the party, said on Saturday that the Aam Aadmi Party had deviated from its core principles . He alleged that honest leaders have no place in a party now controlled by corrupt elements . “Exercising the authority granted by the Constitution framed by Ambedkar, the seven of us MPs are leaving the party together,” he stated.

Political analysts believe that the simultaneous resignation of seven Rajya Sabha MPs at a time when AAP has lost power in Delhi and is weakening in Punjab could deal a severe and possibly irreversible blow to the party.
