A year after the 2025 India–Pakistan escalation known in Pakistan as Marka-e-Haq and in India as Operation Sindoor , the Pakistan Army on Thursday said it will continue to upgrade its military capabilities to meet future challenges and respond decisively to any aggression.

In its statement issued from Rawalpindi on the first anniversary of the four-day conflict, the army described the 2025 events as a defining chapter in its military history. India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, striking alleged terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. New Delhi said the action was precise and non-escalatory .

The strikes triggered rapid escalation involving drone and missile exchanges before both sides de-escalated through military hotline communication , leading to a ceasefire understanding within days.

The Pakistan Army said its armed forces remain fully aware of evolving regional threats. It stated, “The resolve, vigilance and commitment of Pakistan Armed Forces remain unwavering,” adding that investments are being made in advanced technologies , training and multi-domain operations covering land, air, cyber and electronic warfare.

It said the focus is on building a future-ready combat structure and enhancing operational readiness.

The Pakistan Air Force was described as evolving into a future-ready air power through modern systems, restructuring and improved doctrine for complex warfare environments.

On the Indian side, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Operation Sindoor a “ fitting response ” to the Pahalgam attack. The Indian Air Force posted, “ India forgets nothing. India forgives nothing.

India’s defence leadership said the operation demonstrated strategic restraint and strength .

The Pakistan Army reiterated that while it remains a peace-oriented nation , it follows a deterrence-based posture focused on sovereignty, territorial integrity and regional stability.
