For his final act as the Managing Director of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), senior IPS officer V.C. Sajjanar didn’t choose a grand send-off or a ceremonial farewell. Instead, he boarded a city bus at Lakdikapul, paid through UPI like any passenger, collected a ticket from the conductor, and rode quietly to Bus Bhavan. Along the way, he chatted with fellow commuters — a gesture that reflected his people-first approach.

The symbolic ride wasn’t just a farewell ritual. It carried a message about humility and accessibility in public service. During his tenure, Sajjanar oversaw the modernization of TSRTC with digital ticketing, UPI payments, and safety measures that particularly addressed women commuters’ concerns. His leadership helped revive public transport morale in the state.

Now, as he takes charge as Hyderabad’s Police Commissioner, Sajjanar’s reputation as a no-nonsense officer precedes him. From creating the SHE Teams to handling sensitive law-and-order challenges, he has earned national recognition. His new role puts him at the center of maintaining peace and security in the capital, where he is expected to bring the same mix of innovation, firmness, and empathy that marked his time at TSRTC.
