8 Dead, Several Injured After Car Rams Into Group Aiding Accident Victims in UP

At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a tragic two-phase road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar district after a speeding car rammed into a group of bystanders who had gathered to help victims of an earlier collision, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred near Ashrafpur Bhua village on the Jalalpur–Akbarpur road around 11.30 pm on Sunday. According to police, the tragedy began when two motorcycles collided head-on , leaving both riders seriously injured. Passersby and local residents rushed to the spot to assist the victims and arrange medical help.

Moments later, a speeding car coming from the Jalalpur side reportedly lost control and ploughed into the crowd gathered along the roadside. The impact was severe, knocking several people to the ground and triggering panic and chaos at the scene.

All injured persons were rushed to a nearby community health centre, where doctors declared six people dead on arrival. Two critically injured victims were referred to higher medical facilities, including a centre in Tanda, where they later succumbed, taking the death toll to eight.

Police said the deceased include Kaifi (32), Uttam Kumar (24), Aditya Kumar (25), Lalchand (24), Raju Gupta (32), Chhotu, and two unidentified individuals. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination , officials added.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the crash. A manhunt is underway , and police suspect rash driving and possible negligence as key factors behind the incident. Authorities said a detailed investigation is ongoing, while the tragedy has raised fresh concerns over roadside safety during emergency situations.
