7th Edition of PM’s Mementos E-Auction to Begin today

The Ministry of Culture has announced the launch of the seventh edition of the Prime Minister’s Mementos E-Auction, offering citizens a chance to own priceless pieces of history while contributing to a noble cause. The online auction will take place between September 17 and October 2, 2025, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and Gandhi Jayanti.

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat made the announcement at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi, on Tuesday. He revealed that more than 1,300 unique gifts received by Prime Minister Modi will be part of this year’s collection, including paintings, sculptures, idols, handicrafts, and sports memorabilia.

“The Prime Minister has dedicated every memento he receives to the Namami Gange Project. Since 2019, thousands of items have been auctioned, raising over ₹50 crore for the rejuvenation of the Ganga,” Shekhawat said. Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to channel all his official gifts toward such a cause.

Highlights of the Auction

The 2025 edition offers an impressive array of culturally significant items reflecting India’s diversity. Among the highlights are:

• A finely embroidered Pashmina shawl from Jammu & Kashmir

• A Tanjore painting of Ram Durbar

• A striking metallic statue of Nataraja

• Rogan art from Gujarat depicting the Tree of Life

• A traditional Naga handwoven shawl

A special feature this year is the inclusion of sports memorabilia gifted by India’s para-athletes who made the nation proud at the Paris Paralympics 2024. These symbolic tokens represent resilience and excellence, carrying the spirit of India’s sporting achievements.

Open for Viewing and Bidding

The entire collection is currently on display at NGMA, New Delhi, allowing visitors to admire the artifacts before bidding. Interested buyers can participate through the official portal www.pmmementos.gov.in .

More Than Just an Auction

Beyond the allure of owning rare memorabilia, the e-auction provides citizens an opportunity to contribute to the Namami Gange Project, India’s flagship mission to restore and conserve the Ganga river and its ecosystem. “This auction is not just about history or culture it’s about responsibility. Every bid is a step towards rejuvenating our holy river,” Shekhawat emphasized. The auction will conclude on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, symbolically tying together heritage, sustainability, and service.
