75 Exhibitors to Join 4th India Sporting Goods Fair as Sports Secretary Pushes Growth
Seventy-five exhibitors from across India will showcase a wide range of athletic gear, equipment, and apparel at the 4th India Sporting Goods Fair (ISGF) , scheduled for April 1–2 at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka . The event comes amid a government push to position India as a global hub for sports goods manufacturing.
Organised by the Sports Goods and Toys Export Promotion Council , this edition of ISGF will see participants display athletic goods, badminton and tennis equipment, boxing gear, cricket equipment, fitness equipment, sports apparel, indoor sports equipment, and toys . The government, for the first time, has allocated ₹500 crore in the annual budget to promote the sector.
Addressing exhibitors, international buyers, and stakeholders on the eve of the fair, Secretary (Sports) Hari Ranjan Rao described the moment as a “golden period in the growth trajectory of India’s sports goods industry.” He reiterated the government’s commitment to scale sports goods exports from ₹3,000 crore to ₹80,000 crore .
"If we have to move from ₹3,000 crore to ₹80,000 crore, every manufacturer will have to multiply their scale nearly 25 times. If you do not dream big, you will not achieve it," Rao said, urging manufacturers to expand globally, innovate, and adopt a forward-looking approach .
Currently, China dominates the sector with nearly 50 per cent market share, followed by the USA, Taiwan, Germany, and Vietnam , while India’s footprint in global exports is just 0.5 per cent . Rao envisioned hosting the world’s largest sports goods exhibition in India with international participation.
He also encouraged new entrants to the sector, pursued joint ventures and international collaborations , and assured that the Ministry would support such partnerships.
Joint Secretary (Sports) Vineel Krishna highlighted the need for manufacturers to meet domestic demand while strengthening India’s global export potential . He further noted that the government hopes to launch the sports goods manufacturing scheme in the coming months after necessary approvals.
With the fair serving as a platform for industry growth, innovation, and global engagement , India aims to significantly expand its footprint in the international sports goods market .
