71.23 Lakh Telangana Voters Cleared for Final Electoral Roll

Telangana election authorities have cleared 71,23,526 voters for inclusion in the final electoral roll following the verification process being carried out under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

According to officials, a total of 92,88,181 notices were required to be issued across the state as part of the electoral roll revision. So far, 92,88,180 notices have been generated, with 91,92,625 notices already delivered to the respective voters. Another 95,555 notices are yet to be distributed.

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy said the scrutiny of records submitted by voters is progressing as part of the revision exercise. Those found eligible following the verification process will be included in the final electoral roll.

The exercise gained momentum after the publication of the draft electoral roll on August 17. Following its release, election authorities began issuing notices wherever verification was required. The process has involved receiving claims and objections from voters and examining the documents and information submitted in response to the notices.

Officials said the exercise is aimed at ensuring that the electoral rolls accurately reflect the eligible voting population in the state. Authorities are examining claims and objections before finalising the revised list.

The election authorities have set November 5 as the deadline for completing the ongoing process. Until then, voters who have received notices and those involved in the claims and objections process will have an opportunity to complete the required formalities.

The scale of the SIR exercise is reflected in the number of notices issued across Telangana. With the overwhelming majority of notices already delivered and more than 71 lakh people identified as eligible, authorities are now focused on completing the remaining verification and distribution work.

The final electoral roll will be prepared after completing the claims, objections and verification procedures. Officials will incorporate the names found eligible based on the outcome of the scrutiny before the revised voters’ list is formally finalised.
