7 Killed, Including 3 Children, After Speeding Truck Runs Over Them in Jharkhand

At least seven people, including three children and three women, were killed and one person injured after a speeding 18-wheel truck ran over them in Jharkhand's Khunti district, police said on Friday.

The incident took place on the Karra-Torpa main road within the limits of Karra police station on Thursday night.

Khunti Superintendent of Police Rishabh Garg said the truck was speeding and went out of control before running over the victims.

"Seven people were killed, and one was injured after an uncontrolled speeding truck ran over them," Garg told PTI.

According to the police, six people died on the spot, while the seventh victim succumbed to injuries during treatment at a hospital.

The deceased comprised three women, three children and one man, the SP said.

One other person sustained injuries in the incident and was taken for medical treatment. Further details about the injured person's condition were not immediately available.

The accident occurred when the truck allegedly lost control and ploughed into the victims on the busy road, resulting in multiple casualties.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the dangers posed by speeding heavy vehicles on roads, particularly in areas where pedestrians and other road users are vulnerable.

Police confirmed the casualties and said the incident took place within Karra police station limits.

Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the accident and the action taken against the truck driver were not immediately available.
