7 killed in fire after EV charging point explosion in Indore

A devastating fire early Wednesday claimed the lives of seven people after an explosion at an electric vehicle (EV) charging point outside a three‑storey house in Brijeshwari Annex Colony , officials said. The blaze, which began between 3.30 am and 4 am, was further intensified when more than ten LPG cylinders inside the house exploded , turning the residence into a deadly trap.

Police said the incident started when a car plugged in for charging suddenly caught fire following a blast at the charging point. Flames quickly spread from the vehicle into the building, making it extremely difficult for residents to escape. The house was equipped with electronic locks , which delayed rescue teams from entering. Nearly ten people were inside at the time, and three were rescued from the inferno. A child remains missing , with emergency teams searching the area.

Indore Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh confirmed that the bodies of the seven victims were taken to Government Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College for post‑mortem examinations. Two other rescued individuals received first aid and later chose treatment at other hospitals. Authorities have yet to release the identities of the deceased.

The tragedy has raised serious concerns about home EV charging safety and the risks of storing flammable materials inside residential premises.
