7 Delhi schools receive Bomb threat emails, security agencies declare hoax
At least seven schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails on Friday morning, triggering panic and prompting immediate security action. The threats were later declared a hoax after extensive searches by police and emergency services, officials said.
The emails claimed that explosions would take place in schools at 1.11 pm and inside Parliament at 2.11 pm , using disturbing and provocative language that raised concerns about attempts to create fear and disrupt public order .
According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) , the first alert was received shortly before 9.12 am , followed by several others through the morning and early afternoon. Schools that received the emails included Delhi Tamil Education Association (Pusa Road), Kendriya Vidyalaya (Gole Market), Happy Public School (Daryaganj), Rabea Public School (Ballimaran), CL Bhalla DAV School (Jhandewalan), Sardar Patel Vidyalaya (Lodhi Estate) and The British School (Chanakyapuri).
As a precautionary measure, students and staff were evacuated and search operations were conducted. No suspicious objects were found at any of the locations.
In a message to parents, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya said police were present on campus and that students had been safely evacuated until the premises were declared secure.
“We carried out checks at all locations and found nothing suspicious. The threat has been declared a hoax,” a DFS official said.
Senior police officers said cybercrime units have been deployed to trace the origin of the emails. Preliminary investigations suggest the threats were sent using masked digital identities and overseas servers to avoid detection.
Officials said there is no evidence of any organised terror group being involved. Investigators believe the emails may be the work of mischief-makers attempting to create panic and disrupt academic schedules.
A similar incident earlier this week saw more than a dozen schools receive bomb threat emails that were also later found to be hoaxes.
Following Friday’s incident, security arrangements at sensitive locations across the capital were reviewed and reinforced.
Police warned that those responsible would face strict legal action under provisions related to public mischief, cybercrime and national security.
