₹55 Lakh Boost for Varthanapalli Temple After Pawan Kalyan’s Intervention
The long-neglected Shiva temple in Varthanapalli , a remote tribal village in the Paderu constituency of Alluri Sitharama Raju district, is set for a major revival with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) sanctioning ₹55 lakh for reconstruction and development works. The initiative gained momentum following the intervention of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan .
During his visit to the village on March 14 as part of his Paderu tour, Pawan Kalyan visited the temple after local residents drew his attention to its deteriorating condition. The shrine, believed to have been built nearly three decades ago, had fallen into disrepair over the years. Responding to appeals from villagers, the Deputy Chief Minister assured them that efforts would be made to restore the temple and later urged the TTD to extend support for the project.
Acting on the request, the TTD approved ₹55 lakh towards the renovation and related development activities. According to reports, a technical team associated with the temple trust also visited the village to assess the requirements and prepare estimates for the proposed works, though official confirmation regarding the exercise was not immediately available.
The redevelopment plan is expected to include restoration of the Shiva temple along with improved facilities for devotees. Reports also stated that idols associated with traditional Hindu temple vahanams may be installed as part of the project, although these details are yet to be officially confirmed by TTD authorities.
Basic infrastructure such as drinking water facilities, seating arrangements for devotees, a dhwajasthambam , and a public address system are also likely to be developed under the initiative.
Pawan Kalyan thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu , TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu , members of the temple trust board, and officials for supporting the reconstruction effort aimed at preserving a place of worship in the tribal region.
