549 BSF jobs under sports quota application starts from 27 Dec

The Border Security Force (BSF) has announced recruitment for 549 Constable (General Duty) posts under the Sports Quota, giving a good employment opportunity to young sportspersons who are currently unemployed. Both male and female candidates can apply for these posts.

The recruitment is for Group ‘C’, non-gazetted and non-ministerial posts. Initially, the appointment will be temporary, but it is likely to be made permanent. Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India or abroad, as the job carries all-India service liability. After appointment, candidates will work under the BSF Act, 1968 and BSF Rules, 1969.

The online application process will start on December 27, 2025, at 12:01 am, and the last date to apply is January 15, 2026, till 11:59 pm. Applications will be accepted only through online mode on the official BSF recruitment website https://rectt.bsf.gov.in. Offline applications will not be accepted.

A total of 549 vacancies have been notified, including 277 posts for men and 272 posts for women, across 30 sports disciplines. These include athletics, boxing, football, hockey, kabaddi, wrestling, weightlifting, swimming, shooting, volleyball, cycling, gymnastics, judo, taekwondo, yoga, water sports, wushu and many other sports. The number of vacancies may increase or decrease without prior notice.

Candidates applying for these posts must be between 18 and 23 years of age as on August 18, 2025. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and departmental categories as per government rules. The minimum educational qualification required is Matriculation (10th pass) from a recognised board.

This recruitment is meant only for meritorious sportspersons. Applicants must have won medals or participated in recognised national or international sports competitions held between January 15, 2024 and January 15, 2026. Marks will be awarded based on the highest medal or level of participation, and preference will be given first to international-level players and then to national-level medal winners.

Selected candidates will receive a basic pay of ₹21,700 per month under Pay Level-3 of the 7th Pay Commission, along with other allowances applicable to Central Government employees. The recruits will also be covered under the New Pension Scheme.

Candidates must meet the prescribed physical and medical standards, including height, chest measurement for male candidates, eyesight and overall fitness. Relaxation in height and chest measurements will be given to candidates from certain regions and categories as per rules.

As part of the selection process, applications will first be scrutinised based on eligibility and sports certificates. Shortlisted candidates will then be called for documentation and sports achievement verification. After this, candidates will undergo Physical Standard Test (PST) and Medical Examination. Final selection will be made based on sports merit, marks awarded for sports achievements and medical fitness.

For the application fee, male candidates belonging to General and OBC categories must pay ₹159. Women candidates and candidates from SC and ST categories are exempted from paying any fee. The fee once paid will not be refunded.
