54 Trains cancelled due to Montha

In view of the heavy rains and strong winds predicted along the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, 54 train services were cancelled by the South Central Railway (SCR) as a safety measure. The cancellations were made for the period between October 27 and 29, 2025, following alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal that may intensify further.

It was stated by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Vijayawada, that round-the-clock control rooms were activated to monitor the weather situation and to coordinate operations and emergency responses. Passengers were advised to undertake travel only if absolutely necessary during this period.

“The situation is being closely monitored by the Division’s control rooms, which are functioning continuously to ensure safety and timely communication,” the official statement said. “The safety of passengers and staff remains the top priority of the Railway administration.”

Passengers were informed that updates regarding train operations would be issued only through official channels, such as the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) App, the Indian Railways official website ( enquiry.indianrail.gov.in ), and the verified social media handles of Vijayawada Division and South Central Railway. The public was also reminded not to believe or circulate rumours about train cancellations or diversions.

“The public is strongly advised not to rely on unofficial information or social media rumours. Verified updates will continue to be issued by the Railway administration through official platforms,” the statement added.

Heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected to affect Krishna, Guntur, East Godavari, and Nellore districts, where track and infrastructure inspections are being carried out on priority. Station staff, technical teams, and field workers have been placed on high alert to respond to any weather-related disruptions.

Passengers were requested to check the real-time status of their trains before starting their journeys and to plan their travel accordingly, keeping in mind possible delays caused by the adverse weather conditions.

“The cooperation of the public is being sought during this challenging period,” the DRM’s office further stated. “The Railway administration remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of all passengers.”
