52 complaints filed with HYDRAA Citizens’ Voice platform

Encroachments and illegal constructions across the city are becoming a growing concern. Residents allege that open spaces, parks, and land reserved for community amenities are being occupied by private individuals by altering boundaries, particularly in older layouts. On Monday alone, the HYDRAA Citizens’ Voice platform received 52 complaints, according to HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath. The Commissioner reviewed the submissions and directed the concerned officials to conduct on-site inspections.

According to Commissioner Ranganath, residents of Ayyappa Colony in Shamshabad (R.R. Nagar) reported that 4,794 square yards of land in Survey Nos. 748 and 749 - originally earmarked for parks and public amenities - has been encroached upon.

In Old Alwal’s Jonnabanda village, residents highlighted issues in Survey Nos. 21P, 576P and 577. In the Ganga Avenue layout, 2,292 square yards of land reserved for a park and community facilities were previously taken over but have since been reclaimed by HYDRAA officials. Residents, however, demanded immediate fencing and installation of park signboards to prevent further encroachments. They also complained that Road No. 4, which provides access to Aravind Enclave, has been illegally blocked.

Representatives of the Sri Govindaraju Swamy Temple in Jagadgirigutta alleged that the temple’s sacred koneru (holy pond) is being gradually encroached upon.

Residents of Ellammakunta in Kukatpally complained that sewage from Pragatinagar is damaging a local lake and urged authorities to expedite drainage diversion works and remove illegal occupations around the water body.

The Pragatinagar Lake View Colony Welfare Association reported that private individuals have been conducting unauthorized surveys, altering the lake boundaries to their advantage. They also claimed that when residents object, false police cases are filed against them. They requested an official survey to prevent further disputes.

Residents of Sri Venkateshwara Nagar Basti in Amberpet-Golnaka area reported that barricades were being placed across public roads, obstructing movement. They also raised concerns about unauthorized commercial activities causing inconvenience in the residential locality. They urged HYDRAA officials to remove the barricades immediately.

Commissioner Ranganath noted that citizens across Hyderabad are increasingly anxious about the rise in encroachments and emphasized that HYDRAA will take swift action on all verified complaints.
