₹5 Lakh ‘Indiramma Insurance’ for Every Family in Telangana

The Telangana government has announced a major welfare initiative for its citizens. As part of the 2026–27 annual Budget , it has introduced the ‘Indiramma Family Life Insurance Scheme’ , aimed at providing financial security to 1.15 crore families across the state. The scheme will come into effect from June 2, 2026 , coinciding with Telangana Formation Day .

Under this scheme, every ration card-holding family will be provided life insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh . Approximately 1.15 crore families , cutting across poor, middle-class, and affluent sections , are expected to benefit.

The primary objective of the scheme is to enhance financial security within families and provide support during unforeseen circumstances. It is expected to serve as a milestone in ensuring social security for every citizen in the state.

State Minister Konda Surekha stated that the government has allocated ₹4,000 crore for the implementation of the scheme. She added that the decision was taken keeping in mind the welfare of the people of the state .
