5 Delhi schools receive bomb threats, security agencies conduct sweeps

Five schools in the national capital received bomb threats via email on Thursday morning, prompting swift action by security agencies and the evacuation of students in some institutions. After extensive checks, authorities confirmed that the threats were hoaxes.

According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), a call regarding the threats was received around 8.30 am, following which police, fire officials, bomb disposal squads and dog squads were deployed to the affected campuses. The schools that received threat emails include Loreto Convent in Delhi Cantonment, Don Bosco School in Chittaranjan Park, Carmel Convent campuses in Anand Niketan and Dwarka, and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate.

As a precautionary measure, standard operating procedures were immediately put in place. Students and staff were moved to safe areas while anti-sabotage teams carried out thorough inspections of classrooms, corridors and open spaces. Entry and exit points were secured during the operation.

“Following standard operating procedures, nothing suspicious was found at any of the locations. The threat has been declared a hoax,” a DFS official said.

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya informed parents that a security threat had been reported in the morning and authorities were promptly alerted. The school said a bomb squad team conducted a comprehensive search of the campus before declaring it safe. “Student safety remains our highest priority. All necessary protocols were followed, and classes will continue as usual,” the school said in its communication to parents.

Police officials said an investigation has been launched to trace the origin of the threatening emails. The incident comes a day after a similar bomb threat was reported at the Dwarka court complex, which was also later declared a hoax.

Authorities reiterated that all such threats are treated with utmost seriousness to ensure public safety, particularly when educational institutions are involved.
