45-Year-Old Elephant Found Dead In Mudumalai Tiger Reserve Forest Area

A 45-year-old male elephant was found dead in a forest area near a watchtower in the Kallatti Hill Slope Reserve Forest under the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district.
The carcass was discovered late on Sunday evening within the Bokkapuram section of the Singara forest range in the Masinagudi forest division , forest department officials said.
According to officials, as the discovery was made late in the day, procedures to conduct a post-mortem examination in accordance with standard operating protocols will be initiated on Monday afternoon.
They further stated that the exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the post-mortem examination is completed.
