
433 kg Cannabis worth ₹2.16 cr seized in Jharkhand: Two arrested
Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized 433 kg of cannabis valued at over ₹2.16 crore during a vehicle checking drive in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district, officials said on Friday.
According to police, the contraband was recovered from a truck intercepted near the Cutcherry More railway overbridge in Lohardaga following a tip-off about the movement of illegal drugs through the area.
The truck was thoroughly searched during the checking drive, leading to the recovery of 154 packets of cannabis concealed inside a box in the vehicle . The consignment was reportedly being transported to Uttar Pradesh.
Lohardaga police station Officer-in-Charge Ratnesh Mohan Thakur said the seized cannabis is estimated to be worth more than ₹2.16 crore in the illegal market.
“The recovered cannabis was stored in 154 packets inside a box in the truck bound for Uttar Pradesh,” Thakur said.
Police arrested the two men who were allegedly transporting the consignment. The accused are residents of Saran in Bihar and Gonda in Uttar Pradesh.Both accused have been sent to judicial custody, and police said further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the drug trafficking network.
