43 Telangana candidates selected for UPSC interview stage under ‘Abhaya Hasta’ scheme

Telangana’s ‘Rajiv Gandhi Civil Services Abhaya Hasta’ scheme, overseen by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, has achieved a remarkable milestone in the UPSC Civil Services 2025 examinations.

Under the scheme, 43 candidates from Telangana who cleared the UPSC Civil Services Mains exam have now qualified for the final interview stage. Speaking on the achievement, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka described it as a proud moment for the state and said the results reflect the effectiveness of the scheme and the government’s support initiatives. He congratulated the candidates, emphasizing that both their talent and government assistance played key roles in this success.

Launched in 2024, the Abhaya Hasta scheme has provided financial assistance totaling ₹3.62 crore to 342 young candidates so far. Each candidate who qualified for the Mains exam received ₹1 lakh, with an additional ₹1 lakh awarded to those selected for the interview stage. In 2025, 202 candidates appeared for the Mains exam with government support, out of which 43 were shortlisted for the interview. Along with financial aid, the government also provides free accommodation in Delhi to help candidates prepare for their interviews.

The scheme, funded by Singareni Collieries Company, is aimed at empowering unemployed youth and supporting them in achieving their civil services aspirations. During the first year of the program, 140 candidates qualified for the Mains exam, 20 reached the interview stage, and 7 were selected in the final UPSC list, now serving in various central government departments.

Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka noted that the scheme has significantly increased interest in civil services among Telangana youth and expressed hope that more candidates from the state would succeed in national-level examinations in the coming years.
