As part of its efforts to curb illegal constructions, HYDRAA’s ‘Prajavani’ grievance redressal programme received a significant response from affected residents. A total of 42 complaints were registered during the hearing held on Monday. Most of the grievances pertained to encroachments within lake Full Tank Level (FTL) limits and the alleged occupation of government lands.

During the proceedings, residents of Pragathi Nagar alleged that land earmarked for public use was being encroached upon. They stated that a crematorium site spread over approximately 5 acres was under threat of encroachment. Aleti Srinivasa Rao, Jashwanth and others further alleged that nearly 4 acres of government land allocated for a garbage dumping yard adjacent to the crematorium was also being occupied. Citing survey officials’ confirmation of the encroachments, they urged HYDRAA to take immediate action.

The Shikhara Residents Welfare Association complained that construction of a crematorium was underway within the FTL and buffer zone of Bachupally Pedda Kunta lake , despite a case pending in court. Residents alleged that work had not been halted even though the matter was sub judice.

In another complaint, residents of Madinaguda in Serilingampally mandal alleged that an apartment building was being constructed on land belonging to the Pochamma temple . They said the construction was temporarily stopped after villagers objected, but illegal activities were continuing despite the case being pending in court.

A similar situation was reported at Pochamma Kunta in Survey No. 971 in Ameenpur , residents said.

Meanwhile, representatives of the colony welfare association in SBR Colony, Boduppal in Medipally mandal , alleged that shops had been constructed by encroaching five feet of a 25-foot road , causing difficulties for ambulances and school buses.

HYDRAA Additional Director Varla Papayya reviewed the complaints and assigned the responsibility of resolving the issues to the concerned officials.
