₹406 Crore Push to Transform Guntur West: MLA Galla Madhavi
Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi on Monday outlined an ambitious ₹406 crore development plan aimed at accelerating infrastructure growth and improving public welfare in the constituency. Speaking at a press conference at the local TDP office, she presented her vision for the area’s overall progress.
She said the NDA coalition government has prioritized development and welfare since assuming office, with a focused effort to transform Guntur West. Despite financial constraints, the administration is working to enhance civic amenities and ensure better services for residents.
Highlighting fiscal challenges, Madhavi noted that around ₹500 crore belonging to the Guntur Municipal Corporation had been diverted earlier, leaving only about ₹100 crore to manage salaries, dues, and essential works. She added that with the support of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, steps are being taken to overcome the financial crunch.
The MLA identified five priority projects and said proposals have been submitted for approval. These include the Peakala Vagu development with a retaining wall at an estimated ₹145 crore , works at Ambedkar Vagu , modernization of the PVK Naidu Market at ₹30 crore , construction of a three-storey Ambedkar Bhavan costing ₹18 crore , and a BC Bhavan with an outlay of ₹10 crore . She expressed confidence that at least two projects will receive approvals and begin this year.
Madhavi urged party leaders and workers to take details of budget allocations to the people. Emphasizing that there will be no compromise on basic infrastructure such as roads, drainage, and electricity, she said additional funds would be sought if required.
Reiterating her commitment, she said the goal is to develop Guntur West into a model constituency through transparent governance. Municipal Additional Commissioner Challa Obulesu also attended the meeting and explained departmental expenditure and fund utilization.
