4 CID Sub-inspectors held for alleged role in LSD trafficking network
In a significant development in a high-value drug trafficking investigation , four personnel from the Himachal Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have been arrested for their alleged role in facilitating the illegal trade of LSD, police officials confirmed on Thursday.
The accused officers have been identified as Sub-Inspectors Rajesh Kumar (40), Sameer (40), Nitesh (46), and Ashok Kumar (42), all residents of Kullu district, including areas such as Manali, Bhuntar, and Bajaura.
According to Abhishek Dhiman , Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Shimla, the case originated on March 3, 2026, when district police apprehended two suspects Sandeep Sharma from Moga in Punjab and Priya Sharma from Sirmaur district from the BCS locality in Shimla. The duo was found in possession of 562 LSD strips weighing 11.57 grams , with an estimated international market value exceeding ₹1.1 crore .
During the investigation, police traced the supply chain to a key, Naviel Harrison , a native of Calicut, Kerala, currently residing in Haryana. Authorities established that Harrison, along with Sandeep Sharma, was involved in trafficking the LSD consignment to Kullu district.
However, the probe took a serious turn when investigators uncovered alleged collusion between the accused CID personnel and the traffickers. Despite intercepting the consignment, the officers are suspected of aiding and enabling the drug network.
Following a detailed internal inquiry initiated on the recommendation of Shimla police, the four officers were suspended by the Additional Director General of Police (CID) on March 16.
Police said the arrested officers will be presented before a local court on Friday. Further investigation into the case is ongoing to determine the extent of the network and any additional involvement.
