
30 School children Taken Ill After Midday Meal in Anantapur
An incident in which 30 students fell seriously ill after consuming the midday meal at a government school in Udegolam village of Anantapur district triggered panic in the locality . As usual, all 116 students of the school had their midday meal, but within a short time, several children began showing symptoms of illness .
The affected students suffered from severe stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhoea , creating a tense situation on the school premises. As the number of victims increased , alert teachers immediately shifted the students to a nearby government hospital for treatment.
After conducting preliminary examinations , doctors stated that the students had suffered food poisoning due to contaminated food . Medical authorities said all the affected students are receiving proper treatment and their condition is stable , bringing relief to anxious parents .
Meanwhile, similar incidents of students falling ill after consuming midday meals have been frequently reported from various parts of the state in recent times. Several people have criticised the midday meal scheme , meant to provide nutritious food , for instead endangering students’ lives .
Parents and local residents have demanded strict action against those responsible and urged the government to ensure continuous monitoring of food quality in schools to prevent such incidents from recurring .
