28-Year-Old Dies of Electrocution During Set Work for Jailer 2

A 28-year-old worker died of electrocution on the sets of the upcoming Tamil film Jailer 2 at Panaiyur on Thursday, police said.

The deceased, identified as Karthikeyan , was engaged in art direction work and was reportedly involved in erecting a house-like set for the film’s shooting when the incident occurred at a private film studio .

According to preliminary investigations , Karthikeyan suffered a fatal electric shock while working on the structure. Police suspect an electrical leak may have caused the accident. He was rushed for assistance but succumbed to his injuries .

Officials from the Kanathur Police said a detailed inquiry is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the electrocution. An FIR is yet to be registered , and statements from crew members and studio personnel are being collected as part of the investigation.

Sources said safety protocols and electrical arrangements at the shooting location are also being examined. No arrests have been made so far.

There was no official announcement regarding compensation for the victim’s family at the time of publication. The film’s production team has also not yet issued a detailed public statement on the incident.
