₹252 Crore Revamp Ignites New Era for AP Fire Services

In a major push to strengthen emergency response, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched a modernisation drive for the state’s fire services in Amaravati, unveiling a new fleet of advanced vehicles and equipment at the Parade Ground.

The initiative, aimed at tackling challenges posed by rapid urbanisation and rising high-rise structures, is part of a ₹252.93 crore plan. In its first phase, equipment worth ₹33.25 crore has been inducted.

Enhanced Fleet and Capabilities

The additions include 25 advanced fire tenders (₹18 crore) designed for faster and more efficient operations, along with 40 Quick Response Vehicles (₹10 crore) built to navigate narrow urban lanes.

To expand disaster response capabilities, 50 inflatable boats (₹2.49 crore) have been introduced for flood rescues, along with 30 breathing apparatus compressors (₹2.08 crore) to support firefighters in hazardous environments.

Focus on Urban Safety

Highlighting growing urban risks, the Chief Minister pointed to increasing high-rise construction in cities such as Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada. He stressed the need for advanced equipment like high-reach ladders and the use of drone technology to improve rescue operations.

Strengthening the System

Naidu called for continuous training of personnel and emphasised the importance of adopting modern technology without compromise. He also assured full government support to further strengthen the department.

The event was attended by Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and other senior officials, with a demonstration of the newly inducted vehicles marking the conclusion of the programme.
