
₹2.23 lakh crore budget for Haryana: Focus on agriculture, clean air, and climate initiatives
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday presented the state’s budget for the financial year 2026-27, proposing an outlay of ₹2.23 lakh crore , 8 per cent higher than last year’s ₹2.05 lakh crore . Holding the finance portfolio himself, Saini highlighted that the budget incorporates inputs from over 5,000 suggestions received from citizens and experts.
The Chief Minister said the government has so far fulfilled 60 of the 217 promises made in its election manifesto. He outlined a capital expenditure of ₹28,205 crore , accounting for 12.6 per cent of the total budget , aimed at strengthening infrastructure and development across the state.
Among key initiatives, Saini announced that the World Bank has approved ₹2,716 crore for the ‘Haryana Clean Air Project’ , highlighting the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The budget also introduces a new ‘Haryana Agri Discom’ , a third power distribution company dedicated to supplying electricity to all 5,084 agricultural feeders and 7.12 lakh farm consumers , ensuring uninterrupted power supply to every farm .
In a major push towards climate action, the budget proposes the creation of the Haryana Green Climate Resilience Fund with an initial allocation of ₹100 crore . The fund aims to promote zero-emission vehicles, renewable energy, energy efficiency, water conservation, urban greening, climate-resilient agriculture, and nature-based solutions .
With a focus on infrastructure, agriculture, and green initiatives, the budget underscores the state government’s intent to combine economic growth with environmental responsibility, while delivering on its electoral promises.
