Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has sanctioned an additional Rs 100 crore to strengthen infrastructure in villages along the Godavari river basin ahead of the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu.

The development works are being taken up under the theme ‘Swachh Godavari–Pavitra Pushkaralu’, with a focus on improving facilities in areas expected to receive large numbers of devotees during the river festival, the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office said on Tuesday.

Of the newly sanctioned funds, Rs 90 crore will be utilised by the Panchayat Raj Department to undertake 111 development works across seven Assembly constituencies covering the Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema, West Godavari and Polavaram regions. The projects include the construction of nearly 141 kilometres of CC and BT roads.

Priority will be given to improving connectivity between villages and Pushkar ghats in constituencies including Razole, P Gannavaram, Ramachandrapuram, Rampachodavaram, Achanta, Narsapuram and Palakollu. Internal roads in villages will also be upgraded wherever necessary.

Another Rs 10 crore will be spent through the Rural Water Supply (RWS) Department to improve access to safe drinking water. The government plans to ensure drinking water facilities at every Pushkar ghat while making adequate arrangements for the large number of pilgrims expected to visit the region.

Meanwhile, Munikoodali in the Rajamahendravaram Rural constituency is already being developed as a ‘Model Pushkar Panchayat’ with an allocation of Rs 7 crore. Development works underway near Sapta Rishi Ghat include CC roads, tower lights, magic drains, soak pits and toilets.

The state government also plans to utilise another Rs 100 crore previously allocated through the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) for priority development works. Infrastructure projects are being planned across Polavaram, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru and Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema districts.

The broader objective is to ensure that the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu are conducted in a clean and well-organised manner, with improved civic infrastructure and better facilities for devotees visiting the ghats.
