
18-Year-Old Woman Maoist Surrenders Before Mulugu SP
A 18-year-old female member of the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation surrendered before the Mulugu District Superintendent of Police (SP) on Saturday, April 26, choosing to join the mainstream.
The woman, identified as Mudiyam Rame alias Rajita (18) , daughter of Deva , hails from Dalla village in Basaguda area of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh . Police said she was working as a member of the 9th platoon under the South Bastar Division and operated under the leadership of Vijjulu alias Aitu (DKSZCM) .
She surrendered in the presence of Mulugu SP Sudheer Ramnath Kekan, IPS , influenced by the awareness campaign run by Mulugu police among tribal communities titled “Return to our villages rather than war.”
Upon surrender, she was provided an immediate assistance of ₹25,000 as part of the government’s rehabilitation policy.
The SP stated that the Telangana government is implementing one of the best surrender and rehabilitation policies in the country , offering financial aid, medical support, and rehabilitation packages to help former Maoists lead a dignified life.
He also urged remaining Maoist members in the forests to abandon violence and return to the mainstream , assuring full protection and rehabilitation support from the government. He added that counselling is being provided to the families of Maoists to encourage them to surrender.
Several senior police officials participated in the programme.
