1,594 Solar Lights Installed Across Srikakulam Coast: Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu

Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Saturday reiterated that the coalition government is committed to the development of fishermen villages in the Srikakulam Parliamentary constituency .

He said the long-cherished dreams of fishermen were being fulfilled through the ‘Matsya Sagaramala’ programme undertaken as part of coastal development. Under the scheme, rural roads have been constructed and electrification works along the coastline have been completed with Coal India CSR funds .

The Union Minister stated that the government had identified the hardships faced by fishermen who travel to the seashore in complete darkness during midnight hours for fishing activities and provided a permanent solution to the problem.

He said around 1,594 solar lights had been installed, eliminating difficulties caused by darkness. “ We completed this project on priority with the objective of providing light and support to the footsteps of fishermen heading to the coast at midnight hours, ” Ram Mohan Naidu said.

The minister expressed confidence that the solar lighting system would not only benefit fishermen but also improve security in coastal areas. He added that the creation of modern infrastructure would boost tourism and generate more employment opportunities for local residents.

Assuring continued support for the welfare and development of fishermen, the Union Minister said the coalition government would always stand by the fishing community. He expressed hope that the provision of facilities such as roads and electricity in fishermen villages, unlike ever before, would improve their living standards.

Ram Mohan Naidu further stated that more development programmes would be undertaken in the coming days to transform the Srikakulam coast into a model region.
